AMD cheap quad-core

AMD Athlon II x4 630 2.8Ghz quad-core CPU $106.25
Biostar A760G M2+ 760G matx mobo $free
Crucial 2x2GB DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 2.0v RAM $106.25
Seagate 500GB SATA HD $60
LG 22X SATA DVD burner $30
case/400W PSU/keyboard/mouse/speakers $50

total $352.50

Can someone build me an AMD quad-core cheaper than this? Or find me one OEM pre-built with same/similar specs, for the same price with an OS?

I'm not sure about finding an oem cheaper, but you can shave some money off. Following deals are courtesy of Slickdeals.

500 Gig Spinpoint at Ewiz.
$49.99, use code HONEYBEE5 to take off $5 more to make it $45 shipped.

For memory, look at Mushkin blackline from Amazon.
$85 shipped. Word of warning, "Caution! the heatsinks on the Ascent series are BIG...especially wide...there is a good possiblity there wont be able to sit in side-by-side slots on most low end mobos."
I just realized it's on back order, so you may have to scratch that depending on how soon you plan to build.

That will take off $35 from what you have currently. You can probably find a dvd drive for $5 cheaper too, though I don't know how attached you are to your selected parts.

have the 630 as well, but i got my ram a year ago at 20 dollars😉
frys bundle had the 630+mb for 89 ar. so whether thats a good price depends on whether u got a frys nearby.

teehee🙂

but seriously though its pretty reasonably priced.

It's not uncommon to see deals (usually Dell) on dual-core desktops with Windows 7 OS -AND- a monitor for around $400. It's not a quad core like your configuration but the person wanting a computer this cheap typically won't need that.

case/400W PSU/keyboard/mouse/speakers $50

Where are you getting all this for 50 bucks?

either really slickdeal or he's buying junk for 50 dollars total. you can get generic <5 dollar mice, <10 dollar kb, and junk speakers. psu that cheap is ugh..questionable.

Ewiz. Search for "iMicro", and then click cases, and then scroll down, they have several styles. Dunno how good the PSU is, they also sell seperate 400W PSUs for like $10-15.

Edit: I just built with this case, it's not bad at all. The PSU has 26A on the 12V, if that can be believed. Also UL listed. The case is comparable to a Rosewill. No noticable sharp edges. No fans pre-installed though. There's an 80mm slot in the rear.

Edit: Ran into an incompatibility with the case. Not only does it only have a single SATA power lead, it also has only an AC'97 front-panel audio connector. The 760G mobo I am using only has an HD-Audio pinout on the mobo, with no BIOS option to select AC'97 or HD Audio. Bleh. So no working front-panel audio jacks on this rig.

(Rosewill cases that I've used include both HD Audio and AC'97 pinout connectors. So does the Antec 300 case. So it's not impossible. Perhaps I'll suggest this to ewiz.)
