I just sold my system to one of my relatives and thinking about buying a new system

Parts that I have on spare are:
512 ddr400 orginal samsung pc3200
slk-900 heat sink with 92x25mm vantec terhmoflow temperature controlled fan
antec true power 480w
ati radeon 9700 pro
external sony 12x burner firewire case (bought long time ago)
120 mator drive 8mb
30 mator drive

I need suggestion on what new motherboard and cpu to buy for ocing.
I'm interested in the nforce2 board but don't know which model to buy any help please.
Frys is having a msi k7n2-l and cpu combo for 250 but i read reviews on the board and it isn't that great of a model.
Also when I look at the msi k7n2-l board it doesn't seem like it have mounting holes to put my slk-900 heat sink on ??
I'm welling to spend at most $300 dollars for a board and cpu
Thanks Alot

the Asus A7N8X Deluxe has the mounting holes (you need to check around to make certain your cooler will fit on that board though, I think it does) and is a very good overclocker from what I've read. Add a 1700+,2100+ or 2400+ t-bred with the right stepping and you'll be flying.

The SLK-900 WILL NOT fit the Asus A7N8X. At least not without bending (and possibly breaking) some resistors or you may have to dremel off some of the heatsink. Neither of which are worth it, IMO. There are forums and reviews all over the Net that point this out. Actually a lot of AMD boards will not support this HSF.

Check the note here: HeatsinkFactory.com

Nice catch HardWired, good thing I told him to make certain first, I'd have made him a very unhappy camper

The SLK900 is universal, so get a P4 VID C1(these are doing 3.2GHZ+ on air) stepping from outpost.com and the ABIT BH7 from newegg for $92 and you've got one heck of an overclocking machine.
