Hello! I was seriously considering trying my hand in building a pc for the first time and getting pretty far in component selection, almost ready to order now from new egg (the components), when all of a sudden, it occurred to me to double check, just before i place the order for parts, with Dell again, what it might cost to do a 6600/4mb cache XPS 410 system with the full intention to buy a PCI (NOT PCIe-x 16) second video card.
my requirements are: i'll have 3 monitors to use with this system: 30" Dell, 24" Dell 2405, and a 21.3" Samsung 4:3 Model 213T. With all that, it would take ordering a 79x0 level video card WITH the Dell XPS 410, and after that, buying a PCI video card myself that would NOT conflict (video driver wise) with the 79x0 and co-exist, and allow me to use all 3 monitors.
fyi: the 30" Dell LCD requires a dual link dvi. as for the 21.3" Samsung 4:3 213T, it will mostly be used for CNN-type news tv watching during the day, so i'll have to buy a tv card or usb tv adapter of some sort.
may i ask if the good folks here know if i can order a Dell XPS 410 with certain "extras"? i.e. larger power supply, a motherboard that has extra PCI slots, etc.
i was just thinking that just prior to ordering the parts from new egg, it might make sense to double check to see if Dell can do anything that might make this more reasonable?
thank you in advance!
