Build my own sensors?

I'm keen on getting my amatuer team a bunch of sensors so I can track stats and performance throughtout the season. The leading players on the markets charge like $300 USD per sensor which is way too expensive. I like what this guys are doing (https://www.movesense.com/product/movesense-sensor/) , trying to create open platform wearable tech, but their sensors are still quite expensive. Does anyway know of anything similar but way cheaper? Are there places where I can custom build my own sensors? Keen to hear your thoughts. Thanks
 
38.50 Euros for what they are selling seems fair enough. OTOH if your whole team has cell phones, then maybe all you need is software to access the existing sensors.
