The Core 2 Duo. Why? Because it's a faster processor in real terms, and it even has more cache. And that cache is shared, so when you rn a game, you'll probably have almost 4MB of cache for that core, which is bound to make some sort of difference.

Either way, a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo is faster than a 2.6Ghz X2.

(Running an old 4400+ here, in case I'm accused of being a fanboy or some crap) If I got a new PC/upgraded, it'd be a Core 2.

Also, if you're going to OC, the Core 2 will destroy that AMD.

Thanks, just what I needed to know.. but now Ive just decided to let anandtech build my new system :)

plus all you list is what you need. how are you supposed to get help when no one knows what you're doing with the system?
