Hi, haven't been in the loop for awhile and I need a new pc since my old one is painfully slow nowadays. I know there are some price cuts coming in April and some new nVidia cards sometime after but if I keep waiting it?ll be 2020 before I upgrade.

I was planning on buying the following stuff based on what I have read on these forums:-

CPU: Core2 Duo e4300

MB: Asus P5N-E SLI

GFX: 8800GTS 640

RAM: 2Gb Corsair XMS2, DDR2 PC5400 (667)

HD: 2x 250 Gb Western Digital WD2500KS Caviar SE16, SATA300, 7200 rpm, 16MB Cache, 8.9 ms

PSU: 530W Hiper HPU-4M530 SLi Ready Black ATX2.2/BTX SATAx2 PCI-Ex2

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit

Before I order it at the weekend I just wanted to check that it's all gonna work together as I haven't built an Intel machine before and don't really know what the crack is.

Since it's probably gonna be 10x faster than what I have atm even at stock I was just thinking of only pushing it to 2.4ghz which would make it 1066 fsb so I would assume that I wouldn't need any fancy memory or cooling solution correct?

Also will this psu work I really didn't know what to look for in terms of connections and power rating and every post I read just confuses me further.

Feel free to critique the parts as like I said I don't really know what I'm doing with Intel and have just gathered these parts from reading every post I could find.

Get a Seasonic or Corsair PSU. In and around 520W will do you for quite a while. You don't need that motherboard unless you want to use SLI (read: unless you want to burn money), get an Asus P5B or Gigabyte DS3 instead.
