I'm hoping to keep it under a thousand.

Absolutely no gaming will be done on it, just lots of work Photoshopping and video editing (so a strong CPU and a nice amount of RAM). I've been out of the PC hardware scene for a while, so I'm not sure what some of the better CPUs are nowadays.

A big screen would be cool too. And some coupons!

Yep, I think it's the replacement for the 9300.

I've been building rigs for five years now, and I don't see anything wrong with Dells, especially their laptops. Thanks for the advice all.

dude, dont get a dell. my mom has a latitude D800 and i have never seen so many problems. first, the screen just goes black, within the first 2 weeks of having it. then, the hard drive starts clicking and fails. then, the battery goes. its like some sort of prank! and, i have a 5 year old imb thinkpad that has been dropped on the floor, infested with viruses, and hasnt shown me any sort of problem. if i were to buy a laptop, i wouldnt even consider anything other than a thinkpad.

that'd be a pretty expensive desktop :p

i'd go with the 9400...pentium Ms are just good for low power consumption imo. my dad has a new IBM with a pentium M chip...our desktop 2.8GHz pc from '03 runs like twice as fast...same RAM too i beleive
