I'm laying out my link tree for a website for a local business that I'm re-designing and started thinking that I would like to keep some of the pictures that the previous designer made.

The bottom of the page says copyright 2006. Designed by: xxxxxxxx

Does the business own the pictures or does the original designer?

Appreciate it.

Would probably depend on the contract the business had with the designer. IANAL but I would guess it would be property of the business.

The owner of the website has the rights to all images, so no, you can't use them unless you purchase them yourself from the same stock source.

copyright 2006 Technically it's only copyrighted for that year since they put in the year. However, it doesn't mean they won't fight you if they wanted.

Hmmm.. I'll have to ask him about it after I meet him tomorrow. He probably wont know though since he just recently bought the business from somebody else. He's most likely had no contact with the original developer.
