Buiding new PC. Should I wait for new AMD Hammer CPU's?

I was going to go with a P4 2.53 GHz but I'm not sure if this is a good idea with AMD's new chips just around the corner. Does anyone know the street date for these new CPU's? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,

i'd wait for the hammers but that probably because i'm an amd zealot.

I'd wait at least until sept 1st... Rumours say that Intel will be cutting prices and releasing more P4 revs (2.66 and 2.8 GHz). As for hammer, well, I'm too impatient to wait for it

I doubt hammers will be affordable for a while. I have a socket A system now, and if Barton doesn't materialize, I'll probably go P4.

If i were you i would wait for the Hammers to arrive. The arrival date would be around 3 months i think..
