Bugatti vs. Environmentalists

IT is the ultimate gas guzzler. Bugatti has defied the trend for green vehicles by creating the world?s fastest, most expensive ? and most polluting ? sports car.

Boasting a top speed of 253mph and an eye-watering price tag of £700,000, the Veyron finally went into production last week with delivery of the first car expected next month.

...But as petrol prices broke the £1 per litre barrier in some parts of the country, environmental campaigners attacked Bugatti for producing a vehicle that boasts an average fuel economy of 11.7mpg [imperial] and spews out 574g/km of carbon dioxide (C02).
£700,000 is $1.286 million and 11.7 miles per imperial gallon is 9.7 mpg.

If you can afford that, you can afford some bloke in a helicopter to follow you around and fill you up with spar gas can everywhere you go.

Bastards, im sure the 50 or so they sell will make a difference, meanwhile, the car is a piece of art which apparently means nothing to them.

Piece of art, my ass. It's an ugly, overpowered, overweight, underengineered toy for the nouveau riche. It has no racing provenance (I don't count the racing history of the original Bugattis, which have exactly nothing to do with this car or its creators), no real style, and nothing else to recommend it other than its absurd power output. I love cars, including supercars, but I don't find this car lovable at all.

Few environmentalists are good at math & logic. 😉

The miata must be your favorite "supercar".

QFT. I'm sure 50 people eating refried beans put out as much or more noxious gas as one Veyron would.

Edit-I'm sure it's only a matter of time until my wife spots one where she works.

I'm thinking rather less than all the old giant 70s Caddys, Fords, etc. that are probably getting about the same gas mileage 😛
