0-60 times aren't what matter though. When you're talking about hyper-cars, 0-150/175/200 are the benchmark, and the Bugatti should beat all comers handily.

Didn't lingenfeltier just break a record with a vette. It was like 0-226 in one mile.

Has Bugatti even tried for that record? An 800HP RWD ZO6 is not going to beat a 1000HP AWD Bugatti in a drag race.

Weight.

Would be an interesting race. The Bugatti is slower in some respects, but I think because it was overall designed specifically for stability at ridiculous speeds, it would be the superior vehicle. Watch the Top Gear where they hit 253mph for an example. The TT Vette tops @ 240mph, and I'm guessing it's not for a lack of power/gearing, but rather the outer limit of stability for the downforce/weight of the design. I sure as hell wouldn't want to even hit 200 in a Vette.

Also note, reading at some sites, the Veyron engine is easily tunable to 1600-2000hp, and with slicks on all 4 drive wheels, it would probably outpace the TT Vette at all levels.

Veyron is stock, staggeringly expensive and fast as it is. The Lingenfelter Vette is a completely modded monster. I'd like to see a Lingenfelter Veyron 😉

OMG - go to 1:50 in the lingenfelter promo video - such an amazing sound

I'd be curious to see the Koenigsegg CCXR (or at least CCX) go up against the Veyron.

I'd be willing to bet the $100k Ultima GTR would be pretty competitive though.

In Europe, it's a production vehicle.

In the US, it's a specialty construct, and is street legal.

since everyone ignored my comment above, perhaps you haven't heard of Red Victor One? I want this more then Veyron, and I would love to see a head to head drag race.

It would be no more interesting than the race in the OP

You don't think so? It's a much closer comparison/competitor to the Veyron

No way. It would blow the Veyron to shreds, if launched properly.

EDIT: Totally unfair race.

This street-legal (we repeat, street-legal) ride can go zero to 60mph in one second, or can travel 1/4 miles in 7.8 seconds

Although IIRC in street trim it only makes about 1500hp or so... I think they mentioned that on Fifth Gear where the car was featured. C&D estimates the Veyron runs a 10.8 in the 1/4, this car would annihilate it.

No question. Ultimately I imagine the Veyron would catch it (I can't imagine RV1 can go 253 MPH), but it would hammer the Veyron in a drag race.

That link shows 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, not 1.0

http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/records/part6.html

Also says it's a 720hp engine, not 1500, so maybe it was some special hyper version that was the 1500hp unit. Still, even with 1500hp, I seriously doubt 0-60 in 1 second is possible with slicks on regular size wheels.

Edit : doh, they're completely different, the vehicles in the two links.

That guys custom Vauxhaul is a one-off vehicle. About as relevant to things as the 1700hp viper.

SLR still sounds better,

that 16 cylinder thing has a wierd noise, and i always prefered a super to a turbo

holy batman with a finger up his butt lol.... veyron left the merc standing. obliteration.

it is said that you could let the mclaren F1 get to 100 and then set off in the veyron and beat it to 200 or something sillly like that.

i love the veyron because its just a orgy of silly numbers.

yeah, that dudes old vauxhall is an impressive machine.... its engine is massive as well.

its street legal, but basically inside is a seat, roll cage and some dials. thats what makes the veyron so impressive... its not just mind bendingly fast. it packs all the creature comforts a rich boy could ever want and built to perfection. havng said that it is also built without compromise...... hence the price tag!
