Bug Pictures!

I have been playing with my camera in the last few days trying to take bug pictures. I used my XT with the standard kit lens 18 to 55 MM . All the pics have been heavily cropped. I don?t have a macro lens so it is difficult to keep the focus on the area of interest. Anny recommendation on a 100 to 300 lens with macro capability that won?t break the bank and eliminate the need to crop? Or are there other solutions?
Anyway enjoy the pics and post some of your own bug pictures.

Pics don't look too bad, but I guess it does show the limitations of the kit lens. A look at any of the pics by Mrvile or fuzzybabybunny will convince you. I do really like the dragonfly pics though.

BTW I think "bug2" is a stinkbug.

Some people can't be pleased. 🙁

Cool pics!

I got a couple decent pics of this giant bug at my old apartment in southern Indiana (use nearby bird $hit for size reference). :Q Nowhere near as closeup and clear as yours though.
My camera is just an old P&S 2MP digital (Canon Powershot A40), and I'm not a pro photographer by any means...

Nice pics, especially with the kit lens 🙂

Where you shooting at f/8 for max sharpness?

I was using F8 or lower, AI auto focus, ISO 400.
