For some reason, on my system all avatars are getting cropped down to a circle, meaning I can't see ~25% of them. Some sort of bug in the new software?

I've seen other XenForo forums with square avatars. Maybe it's a setting in the XenForo software.

It's definitely a style setting. You can change it with CSS. And avatars are square if you click a user's username.

Yeah, making a setting in the forum preferences would be great. I don't want to go hacking stylesheets.

99.99% of all pics on the web have corners yet whoever came up with round avatars completely ignored this hard fact. If that's not bad enough it basically takes 25% of the square pic/avatar and throws it away by cropping it round. This is a huge waste of space. Why don't forum designers use common sense in favor of making a change for the sake of change?

Your user-uploaded content was uploaded with the intention of being a square avatar in vB. XenForo displays them as circles. This is not a bug, it's a change. If you don't like it, simply alter your avatar.

Can we not alter the software settings instead...?

Adapt, friend. We've bigger fish to fry at the moment than this, and it is not a simple toggling of options but would require code changes across a variety of templates. The three weeks you've spent complaining about this would have provided you ample time to crop an image.

The VB Style theme, available in the Style Chooser below, renders all avatars in glorious squareness.

Isn't my favorite theme, but it's the only alternative right now that doesn't involve Stylish.

Yeah, that's what I'm using till I can find a dark theme that I like.

No, it's a very simple CSS change, not a code change. But I do understand that you have better things to worry about.

We make 'em circles, people complain about change. We make 'em squares again, people complain about the lack of change. Just can't win with you guys :p

You can't! Lol. Livin' to wine!

Personally, I didn't care either way. So if more members are happier with the square, then job well done!
