Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 (125Mbs) and 54g clients

I was thinking of upgrading my wired/802.11b network to a purely wireless one using the buffalo model in the title

and two of these

From various research I'm convinced that the router is excellent. However, I live with a couple other roommates who have laptops with integrated standard 54g cards. Is there any point to buying the high speed adapters since, as I understand, the entire network is limited by the slowest clients?

Hopefully you are aware that th2 125 is actually like functional 28-36 , while the 54 is like 18-22.

Yes I'm aware of that. What I'm asking is whether mixing 54g and 125g on the same network will limit the 125g connections to only 54g speeds just like using both 802.11b and 802.11g clients on an 802.11g network will significantly slow down any 802.11g clients to 801.11b speeds.
