Just found out I'm going to be in Buffalo, NY this weekend for a game at the HSBC arena. Wondering if there's one or two specific areas where all the bars/clubs are so we can get a hotel near there. Anyone know any decent places to go out and where they are in the city? If there's anything reasonably close to the stadium that would rock.

Also, any other "must-do" type things? Not knocking it or anything but I'm not expecting Buffalo to be a huge tourist attraction. Probably won't have much time to anything significant. Any famous wing places worth hitting?

Most visitors like to check out the Anchor Bar on Main Street. They are famous for their wings.

Other than that, the mainstay of activity is on Chippewa Street.

Pearl Street Grill is right next to HSBC. Great microbrew's and food.

I second Pearl Street Grill.

Wish I could remember the name of the hotel I spent 6 weeks at. I remember it was near a Walgreens in/near downtown area. Nor can I remember any of the various clubs I visited. Oh well ... it was back in '97.

Chippewa is/was the main strip near down town - and there were many parts of Elmwood that were worth checking out too

I've been away from the city for a few years but I heard they're building a new casino near down town too

IMO the best wings in Buffalo *were* to be found in Kenmore at Pepe's Pizza at the corner of Kenmore & Colvin - but thats going from my opinion 7-8 years ago

Anchor Bar has the rep but just had some OK wings and I'd be sooner to suggest Pearl Street Grill if staying with places down town

If you have access to a car I'd also suggest checking out Niagra Falls if you haven't seen it yet - its a little ways away but IMO can be more interesting to see than Buffalo itself - you don't have to go to Canada to see it either
