Thinking about picking up a blue Budgie this week for companionship, and i like birds. Any tips for first time bird owners?

Not a bird guy. Friend of my father has like 4 or 5 bird including a parrot that hides in his t-shirt half the time. Cute bird.

Get a dog. 😉

living at home while in school, mother is allergic to dogs. I would really like one when I move out however.
 
Awesome! I love budgerigars. I used to have two when I was youngster. Lots of fun and personality; you will enjoy!

Looks like they're both females. I had one once, and he hated me. He'd jump on my hand and bite it when I was changing his food or something. Kind of a dick, but I liked him ok. Sometimes you can get them to say a couple words, but mine never did.

They are both too young to really be able to tell at the moment. Yeah they are getting used to me i think, they used to freak out when i changed the food and water but now they just shuffle to a corner and wait for me to finish 😛

yeah mine were originally freaked out, so I started to spend a certain amount of time each day just leaving my hand in their cage so they would get used to it. Eventually they were comfortable and would hop on my finger so I could take them out and walk around. They would also fly to my finger after they had been out flying around the house. ^_^

I have three cats (that dont come into the room) so they wont be flying around the house, however i am probably starting next week start letting them out into my room 🙂
 
Looks like they still have the bands on their legs? You might want to get them removed. It can sometimes cause irritation. I'd be leery of doing it myself. Their legs are tiny, and I'd be afraid of breaking it.
 
Seems like an odd companion, can they be trained, or do they have any personality? Curious.
