hey everyone, I am looking to upgrade my old/outdated/nonworking Pentium D rig.

I'll start with what I have.

Antec Case and Antec TruePower 480
Sapphire Radeon X800GT
LiteOn DVD/RW (IDE)
Maxtor 100GB & Samsung 320GB HDD
Copy of XP Pro
OCZ 2 GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC 6400

What I'm Looking at purchasing
Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L (I have an IDE DVD drive and I hear the P31 is much easier to work with on this
Intel E4500 This seems to be a nice midrange CPU with some OC ability. I have never OC before and the Core 2 Duos seem to be fairly good OC attributes, as well as the Gigabyte Mobo.

Any thoughts? If everything seems ok, I'm going to purchase this tonight. Thanks for all the help

Great article. This article just told me that all I need now to get a really awesome gaming experience is to get myself a 8800GT. Since I game at 1280X1024, the 8800GT seems to be the best choice for me.

@Master, I think you should do something like what Firing Squad. Budget upgrading on the cheap. Just reuse your old parts to keep the cost down.
