budget/non gaming videocard

right now i am hanging on to a gf2 mx400 and it is on its last limbs, so i am in the market for a new card. i really do not do too much gaming and at first i was looking at getting a 9600pro, but would it be worth it to spend the extra 100-150 on a 6600/6800. basically i am asking what is the best value right now for video cards, because i dont mind spending some money but i dont need anything all that high end.

I would suggest that you go with the most card your budget can handle. I have a friend who bought an ATI7000 for his new PC because he doesn't game. It's great for normal use, but now that he has the horsepower for games he wants to try a few and can't due to the video card. Don't box yourself in with a low end card if you can help it. The 6600 would be a nice mark to aim at if your budget and conscience will allow it, otherwise stick with the 9600 Pro. Either would be a decent choice.

If you've been exposed to games and still don't care, then...

If you game very little but want to have fun when you do, then...

You need to make up your mind what it is you want to do. 😉

i admit i have done my fair share of gaming, but dont really have time for it nowadays. its not that i cant afford it, but i think the difference would be better spent on ram, tv tuner, new moniter.... thanks for the responses i just wasnt completely sure what to do, but im pretty sure now ill just pick up one of the passive 9600pros and get rid of this thing.
