Sorry guys... This was hotter when I thought it was a SLI board. It has (2) PCI-e slots, but it doesn't seem to support SLI.

I realize that the market for this item may be getting smaller, BUT...

Newegg has the Albatron K8NF4X-754 Socket 754 NVIDIA nForce4 Motherboard for ~$57 with Free S+H and a $30 Rebate! So, for less then $27 you can squeeze a bit more life from your S754 CPU. I know I will.

Please note: I do realize that AM2 (and 939) are out. I just think that for some of us who are on a strict finicial budget could use this board. As I said, it's only hot for those of us who still have a S754 CPU.

yeah- well, if you were on a "strict financial budget" could you wait 12-14 frickin weeks for your $30 back? I know I wouldn't
ps- Biostar 754 boards were $39.99 free shipped at chief last week, so i think better non-rebate deals can be had... but hey- its all good- I'm sure someone doesn't mind a 12-14week wait :)

Anyone on a super budget is going to go for the Athlon 64 3400+/motherboard combo for $99. I got the giga motherboard and have been very happy with the deal.

I dont think that board is sli capable? There are 2 pci express slots, which operate at x16/x4 instead of x8/x8 or x16/x16. The board comes with no sli bridge. That is a very cheap nforce4 board with pci-e though, so it deserves some credit.

some credit? maybe, "SUPER HOT" ? no.

A bunch of us got these
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813186037
for $31.65 +shipping from microcenter
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=40&threadid=1868642&enterthread=y
Now THAT was SUPER HOT.
And yes - I know- that was s939, but I'm just giving you guys an idea of what alot of us actually consider "super hot" ...
12-14weeks rebate waits? -not hot  :)

So maybe this thread should focus on "Cheap nforce4 s754 board $27 AR!!"
not SUPER HOT, not for those on STRICT BUDGET.
but whatever- to each their own...

I wouldn't get that. I tried two of those open boxes and neither one worked. The first one wouldn't even power on, let alone post, while the second one would power on but wouldn't post. This happened both with the onboard video and a PCI Radeon 7000.

I have edted the title to show NF4, PCI-e Mobo $27 A.M.I.R. I certainly think that you have "issues". I was clear that this was hot for a small group or S754 owners. The boards you point out are either S939 or S754 w/AGP. What don't you understand? show me a better S754 PCI-e board... It's time to put-up or shut-up. Four posts in this thread with 3 of them edited.... Sheesh.... It be one thing if even ONE of them was helpful. The "super cheap" and "super crappy" board you listed isn't even close to an NF4 never mind it's a TUL (try reading the reviews). 'mdetz' at least pointed out a link to a s754, NF, PCI-e board, and he only needed one post to do it. Unfortunately his suggestion is an 'Open Box' which unfortunately comes with the good chance of it not working right or missing parts.

I really don't think that someone with a S754 CPU is gonna want to do that. But, if you took the time to include a link (or even mention from where...) I would at least see what you are talking about.

I thought that I was clear that it was good for some of us who already have a S754 CPU and wanted a NF4 PCI-e motherboard for an inexpensive price...

BTW: yes, inexpensive after M.I.R. is still inexpensive.

SIX posts and still counting... The most recent ones back-to-back and both edited. Again.... Put-up or shut-up. You have done nothing to show us a better deal. Again... I listed it as an inexpensive board for some of us like me who is on a budget. My mistake for calling it "super hot for those of use who still have S754 CPU's", I should have known that some people wouldn't read past the first two words....

I fixed my open box TForce. Had to pull and replace a cpu power supply capacitor which was knocked sideways and had leaked electrolyte. BTW, it came as a bare board.

If I had to buy a cheap nforce4 PCI-E s754 motherboard today...
it would be this board:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813186056
$48.95+$5.64sh ($54.59 shipped)
Why? well, less importantly-better features (3 Dimm slots, 3 PCI slots, 3 PCI-E 1x slots, and PATA RAID support), MORE IMPORTANTLY? - Foxconn boards have **FULL** 3yr warranties. So for people on a BUDGET, I bet having 3 years of warranty could save them a chunk of change if their board crapped...
Plus-If I was on a "strict budget" that would apply to money I have now. Therefore this board's price is as good(slightly better). Rebates are for poeple that HAVE money now and can wait for some back later. Not for those on strict budgets now. Plus I, as well as many others, am sick of REBATES- nevermind 12-14weeks ones- what a crock.

And another thing- that Albatron board can't do SLI, it is just 2 PCI-E graphic card capable. Main purpose would be for adding extra monitors utilizing 2 PCI-E cards instead of a PCI-E and a PCI. Posting incorrect and misleading info on a "deal" is lame.

It may be getting smaller but there are still a bunch of us out there. I know a ton of people that haven't even touched 939 just like me. So, good eye and thanks for the heads up. :)

However, I would pay 2x as much as this deal to get a more 'futureproof' and dependable board such as THIS board, on the RIGHT. sata3, gigabit, SLI

I know we're trying to save money here, but how hard is it to save another 30 clams? It would be a better investment, imo. By the way the price has dropped (as expected) on this from $100 in months past. Who knows, wait 2 months for the price to drop more and to pinch pennies to save up the 30 bucks and you could get it. Remember that it is a marketing strategy to make something look real great, but all the while they're trying to get rid of them because they can't compete with the better product at the pre-rebate price. Just pointing that fact out that we all are aware of, but often lose sight of.

Well, I must sincerely take the time to thank you for what I see to be your first constructive post in this thread.

I personally disagree with the board that you listed, but I am glad you added it so that others will have a choice. Yes, Foxconn may have a 3-yr warranty, but you may have more of a reason to need it. Also, I wouldn't say "... for people on a BUDGET, I bet having 3 years of warranty could save them a chunk of change if their board crapped..." about a board that cost them $27. A 'chunk-of-change' should be reserved for higher cost items.

Thanks for the info though, and I guess I should say that I have been checking out the 'non-SLI' info since I saw 'dustmann' post about it. I got confused since the #2 reviewer said that it DOES support SLI. I have read info at Hexus.net which says it can do SLI (but they also said it supports dual core CPU's). My bad, I will edit. It was an honest mistake, I guess that I am 'lame' in your opinion. I am fine with that. I have been called worse by better ;).

EDIT: Thanks for the info... I can't believe after all of that, I forgot to cut out the SLI reference:eek:! I didn't mean to sound angry, I appologize if I came off that way. I tried to be specific in my OP, but I guess I wasn't as clear as I had intended to be.

honenstly dude- the whole thing really wasn't a big deal with me. You seem to have reached and almost angry state, and all I was trying to do was was posting other options and opinions. I didn't think my tone was cross, nor too rebuking, but if it came across that way I am sorry. I wasn't trying to OUTDEAL your post either. But in addition I was trying to express the downsides of the rebate, whether this was really in the best interest of the currently strict budget minded and that I just didn't find this to be a "super hot" deal.
and yes- posting incorrect info is lame, but as long as you are willing to correct it than thats something. I applaud you for keeping up with your thread and being willing to make adjustments.
And don't be surprised if I go back and make edits to this post either :)
ps- And I stated that posting misleading info was lame, I did not actually call you, as a person, lame :)
pps- your post still has SLI listed ...
