Budget laptop - Toshiba A45S121 ?

It has been several years since I have owned a laptop - my last one was Compaq 286 LTE ! so I am not familiar with them at his point . I just purchased this Toshibqa model at CC for $599 AR . I want to add wireless networking capability . Will a generic laptop wireless neworking card work in this machine or are there any other issues ( antennna etc ) ? . BTW is this machine more durable than the similarly priced Compaq model ? -thanks
