Yeah, no doubt Jurassic Park 1 was the best. All the others were a ton of fuck quit frankly. They could have went in a different direction. I mean, remember when Denis Nedry dropped the shaving cream canister and mud covered it? Something could have been focused on that.
I agree with you 100% there, but the problem was the difference between the book and the movie. In the book they nuked that island so they had to have dinos on a different island already. So the sequel book was all about that and they dropped the ball connecting the two. I will say they did develop the rouge group over a decade from many versions of scripts for Jurassic Park 4 that were written and the raptor team was the best idea from all of that brainstorming. So that was as good as that plot was going to get for whatever that is worth.
But there should have been a real good scientific story line.
Couldn't for two reasons, Americans are dumb and now Jurassic Park is a brand. In the first one the dinosaurs were accurate for the time, in 2015 the same dinos are wrong because the people paying for the film are scared that a raptor with feathers would look too wussy.
That was the science angle of the film though. From the start the whole thing was a GMO lie as the head scientist (and only repeating character to the original FYI) was always splicing in something. That if the whole project was really done for science it would have been more accurate and maybe slower for development. But they went for a theme park for the start and eventually the genetic manipulation backfired.
Instead World was more like a tourist thing with a few "scares." And how the hell did they contain the Dinos after the fact. I mean the chaos was everywhere after 1. Now it's a tourist attraction?
That is part of what works about the film, it admits to the audience that CGI dinosaurs aren't special anymore. So instead they went for a combo of thrills and nostalgia that really hit home with people. It's not the best movie ever but it was way better than Terminator 5. Or 4.
