Building a PC for my mate , trying to decide on what graphics card to get. Not wanting to spend lots of money on it so been looking about ebay for a deal.

What would be a good card to get ? CPU as it stands is a dual core Ivybridge Pentium , 8gig DDR3 Ram. Not expecting this to run watchdogs on ultra but a card that would play source games/older titles at 1080p 60fps

You'll need to give us a budget at least. Simply saying "budget" doesn't mean anything. Also, you need to be more specific about the games that he'll play, and telling us what country you live in would be helpful as well.

A $150 budget would get you a nice 7950 which should play everything 1080p. A $275 budget would get you a modern R9 290 which is the absolute best value in power vs performance, but $275 is not what most would consider budget. Lots of deals on previously used miner cards out there, just a matter of finding one with a transferable warranty or that was "lightly" used.

Sorry guys should have been more clear

I've bought 2 x asus hd 6970 directcu ii 2gb cards for £130 off ebay UK.

I plan on putting one in the PC I am building for my friend and will keep another as spare

Think I got quite a good deal for these ? I know they are the older range but they should be still quite good and capable cards

LOL....Friends deserve the cheap accessories:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

It's just so he can play against me at CS:GO. His PC runs the game like a slide show so said I would look into upgrading for him. Obviously he will pay me back what I spend. That is me up to about £220 now

Just need to buy a case and PSU now and we are good to go.

I wouldn't use such a power hungry GPU just for that...

It's an OK price for two 6970's. No more slideshow for CS:GO!

No I think he might just get over 60 fps now ...

Also what sort of equivalent is this card. Is it about the same as an HD7850 ?

Probably should have asked all of this before I bought them

Yes, roughly equivalent to 7870, R9 270, gtx 570, 660.
