@depakjan,

Buy yourself a 5670, it will last the life of your system.
Next upgrade, the whole machine.

Its 3x faster or more.

You have no credible evidence to support that.

You assumed one card to be equal to the other, then you took that card in SLI (come on, SLI? you know there are lots of variances) and compared it to another videocard and then took that card in SLI again!

and the only supporting evidence you had in that clusterfuck used 1 game.

The example I posted uses a GT 240 GDDR5 vs. a GTX 460 768MB and uses ~ 16 games.

Seriously, do you want us to believe that your method for comparing the two cards is more accurate than mine?

I'd a new psu first

My 2 cents.

A $40 Seasonic SS350-ET will power any video card in this thread with 34a 12 volt and is 80+ bronze

depakjan,

Are you in the United States? because if you are, those price are not good at all (for the two cards you picked).

If you are not in the U.S., how much does a 5670 and 5770 cost where you live?

Jesus, you are really taking this personally, chill the hell out with the GT240, it's an old low end card. HD5670 is proven to be a better card, plus you get GDDR5, DX11, SM5.0 and if i'm not wrong, it uses less power. The HD5670 is future proof for mid-end/low end gaming, the GT240 is already 2 series behind and will be dead pretty soon.

EDIT: Why do you think they are going for $30/40 dollars?

1, wasn't even talking to you.

2, in what you quoted, I wasn't asking him about the GT 240. I was asking about the prices of two competing Radeon cards. Yes, the 5670 is faster but I'm guessing that you noticed he is looking for a videocard within a budget. I assume the 5670 will cost him more so I asked how much more. There gets to be a point where the faster card may not be worth the extra amount, don't you think?

because I pulled up current prices before posting. I didn't say they go for $30. I said there was a deal recently (Nov 27th) for $20AR and there are lots of deals in the $40AR range (including right now).

I also posted a higher price for the 5670 because there is no $55AR 5670 available right now. If you know of one, feel free to post it.

LOL, finding a good deal on mid end cards isn't hard.

The GT240 has been on sale for the past like year, the HD5670 will go for around 60-70 if you give it time and stay on the lookout for good deals, it really isn't that hard, if he's on a budget, saving up money and waiting for a good deal on the 5670 shouldn't be that much of a challenge.

Yes, there are lots of deals on mid-range videocards.

I posted deals that are available right now. You are right about the GT240, it does go on sale a lot. The 5670 doesn't. This is all assuming he is in the U.S. That's why I asked him

They seem pretty close to me? I didn't know the gt240 was that quick now, must be driver improvements.

I know both cards overclock well, I would just go for the cheaper of the 2.
The gt240.

I think the main benefit of the 5670 (apart from DX11 of course) is that it will allow some AA in a lot of games where the GT240 couldn't. I would totally pick it over the GT240 if both were free, but right now the cheapest on newegg are $40AR and $75AR.

Don't know how much AA matters to the OP. For me, the GT240 is a backup videocard.

Hey guys i am from india.. from what i have researched 5670 is selling for around 120$ here and gt 240 for around 95$ .. i do have 2gb ram now...AA doesn't matter to me at all ... all my card needs to do is play some online games.. like soon to be released Valve's DOTA , medium seting diablo 3.. and some PC exclusives if there is going to be any... just looking for the cheap and best card... for now i am pretty convinced to go with gt 240 ...

If the GT 240 has DDR5 RAM then it would be a good purchase. But if it has DDR3 RAM then the HD 5670 would be the better purchase.

THIS

I got a Gt240 for my HTPC due to it being cheaper then a ATI card. I prefer AMD/Ati but am running Nvidia as it was the best bang for the buck right now.
Just make sure it has DDR5 or it will be a dog.

I was able to get another 50Mhz out of the core and can;t remember the ram. So it a little room to overclock.
