Budget gaming rig completed

Athlon 64 3000 Retail @ 2.2GHZ (havent tried further yet, set it 2.2ghz out of box and installed OS) $150
Asrock DUAL MB $65
1GB kingsting ddr 400 $83
Sapphire X800GTO2 fully unlocked @ 520/540MHZ (havent tried further)
old 40gb 7200RPM drive
old optical drives
old generic fvcking ugly chassis
Fortron AX400 PSU $30

Total shipped to door was ~$600 (took 2 days, Ewiz pwns)

Initial benchmarks:
3dmark 2001 = 23,400 (As fast as my buddies 7800GT w/A64 3500)
3dmark 2003 = 12,440

Rig is for my nefew btw, he asked for a fast BF2 machine and I delivered.🙂

not entirely fast on bf2 with the 1gb of ram, but will get the job done. gj.

Microcenter 160gig hd $10 after rebates
Microcenter ninja case w/450watt ps $30 after rebate
microcenter 1gig pc3200 ram $50 after rebate

$170. all that's needed is a video card. probably $99 from Black friday.

= $270

His old rig was a frys combo LOL. ECS K7S5A board with XP1600. The HSF it came with kinda sucked, ~60-70 degrees constant (but stable), and the board was P.O.S., it would occaisonally forget the bios parameters. I tried replacing cmos battery and bios flash but still acted lame. I like this rig I built for him, quality parts from Asrock (asus), fortron, and sapphire. He plans on getting a coolermaster chassis and a dvd burner later so this is IMO is good foundation to start off.
