Budget for your first bits of motorcycle gear?

Got gloves today. They were $50 on craigslist (A bit steep, but $50 gloves new won't give this kind of protection). They're used (like everything else). The guy did use them quite a bit from what I could tell. However, they're made locally. So, I can go to the local shop (which is like 2 miles from where I live) and get them completely fixed up if they break or need repair! They're about $175 new. They look like they offer a lot of protection too. And honestly, nothing is falling apart on them.

Looks like you took the right route!! I got all used gear with my first bike as well. Once I got a new bike, I sold all the used stuff and got new (except for my leather jacket because those are pretty expensive).
