I wan to set up a budget video surveillance system for monitoring my business. I really don't want the expense of DSL with a static IP as required by some of the dedicted systems. I am confused by the junky x10 ads and have seen some what appear to CCTV quality at a reasonable priced components ( DVR cards etc) on fleabay but don't know where to start. Any links to websites to get me started are appeciated .

Sams club has a cctv package for $400 or so... then you can feed the output of the recording vcr to a pc with a dvr card on it and stram it onto the web.... and you can use dynamic domain to reach it consistently over regular dsl....

We recently did this at work, and used 123CCTVas our vendor. I was very pleased with their service. We even busted a camera during installation and they repaired it at no charge. The cheap cards you see on fleabay are the same ones this and other vendors are selling -- I know because I got one from fleabay to monitor my home! :D The software is very feature laden, you can record to hard drive, remote view over the internet, tons of options... I can send you some sample video if you wanna see what the quality is like, just send me a PM.

BTW -I noticed that most of the generic DVR cards and CCTV cameras in my low budget range offered from fleabay vendors are offered from vendors in the OEM countries . Any model and fleabay vendor exprerience recommendations on a 4 CH card with decent software / manuals and the other equipment are appreciated too.
