460 is an excellent card in the low 100´s budget. The 5770 is also a great card. Any of these will let you play 1024x768 resolutions with good quality, if not excellent.

I myself used to play at that resolution until I changed to 1080. There is a difference but I come from an age where pacman was a cube (atari 2600) so I value gameplay over graphics.

In a nice, playable game having nice graphics is a nice bonus :) .

Congrats to all gamers out there, regardless of the hardware they use!!

ok i think that gts450(£80) < 5770(£80)=6770 < gtx460(£110) < 6870 < gtx560 ti
but do u think that gts450/5770 is enough for my needs and will be ok for the nxt 2-3yrs (at my resolution) or do u think its worth the extra £30 and go for the gtx460 for a better performance/future proofing, again for my needs. or a 550ti (£110)

I think 5770 / 6770 is enough for your needs.

Next gen will almost certainly be a large improvement due to the 2 node reduction and the 3xnm skip. Who knows when that will be, but 'future proofing' is not going to happen when the 4xnm process has been around 2-3x longer than any previous process and a 2 node jump poised for next gen.

Think about the people who went and bought a 5850 at launch. Compared to today's prices, a launch price 5850 is actually still reasonably competitive in terms of price / performance now in 2011, when it was released late 2009.

So I do not think going for the 460 1GB makes sense at this point. Stay cheap, expect to trade up early next gen, when the 5770 / 6770 may still be worth something.

ok i just wanted to thank evry1. after much research/benchmarks, i decided to go for the gtx460, as £80 for a gts450 is crazy when i can get a 5770 for £90 or gtx460 for £120, with the 460 being the best out of them. however i will wait till the prices go down a bit. anyways thnx again. :)
