Budget Build Progress

So Finally with the announcement of Spore coming out March Third I've decided to start getting my butt in gear buying Parts for my new build. First Build I should say.

Here is my progress so far..Ideally my real budget is 700 dollars..but I might have an extra 200 dollars to play with.. So Far, I've done very well I'd say

Abit-P35-E - 66 AR (save 30 dollars)
Antec P182- 44.99 AR (Save 120ish from retail)

Now with the things I haven't bought yet.

275- for a G0 Q6600 (I plan on going to 3ghz OC)
45- Tuniq
110- Samsung spinpoint 500gb
Free- 512 BFG 7800 GT OC (eventually upgrading to a 8800)

At this point I'm down to 144 dollars to use on RAM+ a PSU + Optical Drives

So Assuming I get something like a NeoHE 550w or a 500w Earthwatt- 40ish AR
2x2gb RAM kit of some sort (suggestions needed for my board and OCing planning)-100

Leaves me what other money I can scrape up for some optical drives..

Thus giving me an awesome system for 800 bucks flat.

A good budget build?

sounds great for a budget build!

Umm you should ask about your case and tower cooler compatability. Sometimes that cooler wont fit on small cases.

The P182 is considered a small case?

Tuniq tower 120 fits just fine in P182. As for the processor I would suggest waiting a week and getting an E8400 and overclock it to 3.5-4.0(should be much faster than Q6600 at 3.0 at all things save maybe encoding and compiling) and put the saved money towards a new vid card.

Good Idea..

Overclocking doesn't need to happen right off the bat.

I was thinking http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820145176

As long as I can get my Quad up to 3ghz I'll be happy.

So everything sounds good eh?

I'm pretty pleased with myself on the Case/Mobo..

What is your best best on a PSU? Something I can watch out for thats pretty high quality that goes on sale pretty low?

Keep in mine, not running a Raid config and not running SLI, just an 8800 GT(X?)

Also, E8400 and Ocing to 3.5-4?

Can this be done on AIR? Also I am a total noob when it comes to OC'ing btw

ack... missed the p182. Was screening over his internals more then the top.

But yeah it will fit fine.

Quick Question.

COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro 750W for 50 AR
or Antec NeoHE 550w for 40 AR - I've heard these have gotten better as they are Seasonic..

Well the E8400 is 3.0Ghz stock. There are reports of people getting it up over 4.0ghz on air, but it could just be very rare chips. But 3.5ghz should easily be possible on air, at stock voltage even. I am hoping to get mine up over 3.8ghz using the tuniq tower 120 and have it be very stable.

Spore has a release date now? Snap, what are the system requirements? That Tuniq is supposedly quite nice! I just ordered a Freezer 7 Pro for my Q6600. It's also supposedly nice, but not quite as much heh. Every few degrees cooler is always good for the CPU I suppose. =)

Yes. Spores official release date is March 3rd, 2008 but I'll believe it when I see it. Mine has been pre ordered for a year now🙂

At any rate I missed the Abit sale..got an e-mail bounced back with a refund because it was OOS. And now the E8400 is out, I might just get that over the Q6600...so many choices.

That being said I picked up the Real Power Pro 750 for 50 AR and I sold my Wicked Laser for 180 dollars. My budget went up to 865 dollars.

865 Starting
-50 AR for my CM 750 RPP PSU
-50 AR for my Antec P180 Case

Still yields me 765 for everything else

Since Is missed the IP35-E I was thinking of going for the IP35-Pro or the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35. Thoughts? These will run the Q6600 or E8xxx pretty well?

Also I'd like to get some pretty fast ram for these boards at a 2x2gb config..I can add another 2x2 later. Suggestions?

I'll be using my old video card for awhile which is fine.

Tuniq tower I know already.

How about some peripheral's?
Samsung Spinpoint's have been suggested already, I'd like 2 HD's.
Maybe 2x Optical drives?
1x Combo 13-1 drive that has the floppy and all the other mem stick things.

Should I get some more fans to throw into the case?
