Looking around newegg, I cam acrossed this PSU. $35 after the $10 and $25 mail-in-rebate.

Looks like a nice deal. $85 PSU for $35. Surely this will have enough juice, wattage and amps wise, right?

On newegg, if the motherboard's overview says, CPU Type - i7/i5/i3, does that mean my pentium sandy won't work with that mobo?

Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB - $23

$244

The MB allows for bios unlocking of additional cpu cores, if you get an x2 chip with good cores you can end up with a x3 or x4 cpu.

I just did a budget build, got everything except my video card power supply and windows for $228 out the door. With a 8800gt I can play new Vegas at 1280x720 at ultra settings and stay above 30fps all the time.

Mind you that the g620 is faster then my g530 and the gts250 is faster then my 8800gt. Depending on your Res you should get good performance. I went the cheapest route on the CPU because I'm getting a 2500 i5 in January

Web browsing is super quick, everything feels very snappy, overall for a budget build under $300 for the whole tower I'm very happy with what I got.

You will be happy with it, that Pentium is faster then my celeron and I have no complaints about my build at all.

Got the parts today. I actually ended up buying a whole new tower. I picked up the Antec 300 for $35. 500GB Hitachi 7200RPM for $50, and a DVD drive for $16. I'll get the case on Tuesday. Hopefully the HDD/DVD will get here Wednesday. I was surprised at how big the GTS 250 was. The high end cards must be huge.

A conroe overclocked to about 3.1GHz will match a sandy bridge G620, for about half the price. Bad advice here. Real enthusiasts dont waste money when they dont have to. I just bought an E6600 conroe AND a P45 mobo off ebay for $60 total. Less than half the price of a G620 and motherboard. Also there are more and more radeon HD48xx series cards appearing on ebay, and they are great deals at around $40. It is amazing the gaming power you can get for less than $100 these days. And still be under 100 watts at idle.
