Budget 5.1 Speakers

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a budget 5.1 setup. My choices are pretty limited:

Logitech X-530
Altec Lansing VS3151R
Altec Lansing 251
Altec Lansing GT5051(not real 5.1)
Creative Inspire T6060

So out of these, which of these should i go for, priority is Music > Gaming >Movies ...... and i do want a 5.1 setup only..
Also r the creative inspire's 5200 any good...i've seen them bashed pretty badly at some places..so didn't included in my choices..

Budget speakers are really, really limited. Nonetheless, I'd just go for the X-530s since they're so cheap. The Altecl Lansings I've never seen, and they don't get recommended often.

I am using the Logitech X-530. I just wish I had independent control on the volume for the back speakers.

Add to that, there's no seprate remote....so if i put the front speaker a little back, controlling the volume would be real pain...

I've read on some other forums...the inspire t6060 is more or less the same things as x-530 using similar components....does anyone know anything about that, as i would prefer it, 'cause of its seprate remote

I'm a bit confused on the "using similar components" statement. Just visually I don't really see how they could be called similar.

Just a general comment about the remote - You can also use volume controls on your computer to adjust things. I more or less keep my own physical sound system at the same level and often just adjust through windows.

Well i don't have the faintest idea...the post was like this in a thread about head to head comparisn of x-530 vs t6060
they are the same.. they share a parent company and use the same internal parts. just different look and name
http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index.php?qid=20061023095328AAyTW5C

Maybe he meant construction wise or something...they both look kinda similar or Maybe he just is an unreliable n00b...

But to me also t6060 look good, and they have a wooden sub too...but the prob is I kind seem to find enough reviews for this set.....their's one given at Rhmods which have give it 5/5 rating (😵) but the reliability of site is in question...

Abt the controlling the volume from the computer part......yeah i know it can be done via the PC, but i rather find it convienient to do it from a remote, but its no binding...its just an added advantage, that's why u see x-530 on my list 🙂

Well I remember logitech buying labtec... and I know about the cambridge soundworks / creative speakers... but I don't remember reading anything about Logitech and creative producing the same products.

Logitech recently came out with X-540s
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836121006

They have a remote

Maybe he got confused about it. In this case I would totally go along with statements of similar internals but a different name and look.

yeah they are the x-540's, but sadly for some reason logitech has not launched them here...(India) :disgust:

🙁 bummer.

I think they are fairly new, so maybe it's only a matter of time?

yeah...maybe, but i need to buy speakers soon...
but wats u'r opinion about creative speakers...specs do look good...comparable if not better than the x-530...they have seprate tweeter and mid range divider, and it is supposed to replace inspire T5900, which was a good set in many's opinion....what do u think.. ?

If creative implemented it well and have a working crossover inthe satellites, they could potentially do a better job than thee Logitechs. I can't give you a straight answer not having compared them.

I've seen comments like this since the x-530s came out if that is any indication TheMafioso
😛

You'd probably be quite happy with them if you could get around the volume control issue.

^^yeah i've seen some myself....but it seems for any1 wanting to buy budget 5.1's thesedays......buys the x-530/x-540 or z5300(which is not exactly budget, considering it roughly cost twice as much as x530, here)...no one buys anything else....atleast its true for guys posting in forums in which i've been...

Guess, i also have to do the same...😛, lol
