Budget 17" laptop for Grandmother

I'm looking for a cheap 17" laptop for my grandmother. I'd get a desktop for her, but several times a year she needs to move the computer to the community center to help with different projects (help people with their taxes, etc).

17" laptop
CPU: i3/i5
GPU: Intel HD x000
Ram: 4-8gigs
HDD: 0.5-1.0tb (I already have an SSD to swap out)
Screen: Low rez please (lower than 1080p if possible)

Price $3-400. Refurbished & scratch-n-dent are fine.

I've been scouting the Levono outlet for a little while, but everytime I see a laptop that fits, it's bought before I can get through the checkout. I've avoided the Inspiron 17 so far as I hear the build quality isn't that great, not that I expect much from at $400 laptop. Any other recommendations?

Check out the Inspiron 17R 5721 model:
Review Dell Inspiron 17R-5721 Notebook

I'd say it's a good laptop for its price.

Just looked at Dell Outlet and saw this one for $479 before tax (use ZT88B06NBG$?SN for 25% off, that's $359.25 before tax), free shipping.
Code:
Inspiron 17R - 5721
•Processor: Intel Core 3rd Generation i3-3227U Processor (3M Cache, 1.9 GHz)
•Windows 8
•500 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
•6GB DDR3 1600MHz (4GBx1+2Gx1)
•17.3 inch HD+ (1600 x 900) WLED Display
•8X DVD +/- RW Drive
•Intel HD Graphics
•Dell Outlet Inspiron 17R - 5721 Laptop

Or just get her a 13-15" laptop and a 23" monitor. Dell Outlet is currently also offering 20% monitors (The S2340M is a great LED IPS monitor for $133.6 after coupon and before tax). And Dell Giftcard is offering a $75 free promo gift card when you purchase a $400 gift card (You need to call or chat to a Dell Outlet sales agent to place an order pay for your order using the 2 gift cards).

Another option is the XPS 18 (the i3 and i5 come with a dock/stand).

I've seen various i5 Dell Inspiron Haswell laptops around 600$. That could be your ticket. Keep an eye on slickdeals, they pop up every now and then.
