If you're not an asshole, stay inside the hotel. You're not going to fit in.

this is NY we're talking about. everybody is an asshole here. Both East and West Village have plenty of bars and a decent night scene to walk around in.

As for food:
Steak- Wolfgang's/Ben and Jack's/Peter Lugers
Burgers- Shake Shack, Corner Bistro,
Ramen- Ippudo, Menkui Tei, or Naruto Ramen
Korean Fried Chicken- BonChon Chicken
Korean- Kum Gang San or BCD Tofu House for reliable options
Japanese Curry/Udon- head to this little hole in wall place on St. Mark's Pl, in East Village called Udon West
At around 7:00pm, head over to 53rd Street and 6th avenue and jump into the long line you see forming at a street corner around a particular Halal Cart. Get the chicken and rice there, but tell them easy on the hot sauce because that sauce is REALLY spicey.

BBQ
Rack and Soul for Louisiana Style Pork Ribs and southern Fried Chicken
Daisy Mae's for Ohklahoma Beef Ribs and dry rub pork ribs
Hill Country if you like smoked meats

Skipping out on Papaya Dog isn't a big deal even though you'll see them everywhere.

Starting them off with the Halal Cart...they'll be new yorkers (or at least B&T) in no time. During the 12 days I was in NYC for the auto show, I probably bought from the cart at least 3 times, LOL.

It's NY. Blimpies! (seriously, don't, though.)

The thing about NY is that to find the absolute BEST music, also at the lowest prices, you have to know people who currently live there and are in the know, because this all happens in huge factory lofts with NO SIGN whatsoever out front, more or less on the QT, and these locations necessarily change relatively rapidly and are known only by word of mouth.

Most anything that is generally well known in NY has been seriously beat to shit looooooooooong ago, as a general rule, sorry to say.

Chicken and rice, chicken and rice,
I love, I love chicken and rice!
(with white sauce and hot sauce and pita bread)

You don't know much about NYC - there's some very fine music in the subways.

You want something out of the way? On Fri. Mar. 13 at 7:45 pm The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Society presents Love In The Subjunctive, An Evening of Dubious Love Songs at The Community Church, 40 E. 35th Street. It's free.

Have a good visit.

Is that sarcasm?

To the OP:

Is your Username based off the PS1 title, or just because you're "too extreme?"

I'll agree with this, but he will need something over his nose.:D

If you are into jazz, a stop by The Blue Note is a must.

Night Club City will give you an idea of how many places there are for night life in the city. You really are going to have to narrow it down some more.
