I'm against all non standard measurements. Beer should be single-6-12-18-24. Coffee should come by the pound and 1/2 pound... Companies use non standard amounts for deceptive purposes, and to make it harder to do a direct comparison of products.

Can you do that in your head, in a reasonable time frame while standing in the liquor store? How about a 6 pack of Guinness draught bottles? Those are 10.xOz per bottle. How does that compare to their cans which are 15.xOz per can, and how do they compare with a normal 12 or 16oz container?

Because you might live in a state where you can't buy less than a 24 pack in a beer distributor.

<-- Stupid alcohol laws.

yes but you never have to get out of your car in PA and thats pretty fun

well provided you have a real brewthrough

Yea, but the case is better than both. The point of the Guinness example was show how non standard measurements are deceptive. What if you have 3 choices of American light in front of you, and you're trying to find the best deal. Bud is the one that isn't directly comparable. You may end up having to break the beer down to a per ounce cost to compare 3 different products, especially when you throw in distributor incentives. Generally you get the best deal when you buy more of any given product, but that isn't always the case.

i went to college in PA and they had them at every distributor. the first time you get one you have to throw down 10$ for the tap (simple air pump tap) but you get to keep it forever. so the first one is more expensive but every one after that was IIRC 23.50 with a few bags of ice. we used to go through 2-4 on a weekend.

its sometimes called a party ball

Most stores have $/unit on the price tag so that helps a bit, but shrinkage is a scam.

You are seriously doing it wrong if you "bargain shop" for beer. :p

But seriously, most have the mathematical acumen to approximate costs, and if not, learn to bring a calculator.

Most of the alcohol laws in states seem to be protectionist more than anything else. I never understood why you can't sell beer and liquor in the same store when I went to Tennessee. And some states have laws saying that beer can't be sold in containers more than 14oz, strictly because US beers typically came in 12oz and import 15oz at the time.

It's just stupid.

My wife just got an 18 pack of Miller Lite for $13. That's $.72 per beer.

Best part is, it actually has a beer-like flavor!

The premise of the OP was that AB has a great idea selling beer in a 15pack. What's wrong with an 18pack, or case? It sounds like he's bargain shopping for beer. Me? I buy what I'm in the mood for, and that's never light anything :^D

The main thing I'm bitching about, is the manufacturers dick with the sizes so people just say fuck it, and buy what LOOKS like the best deal, but may not be. I bet the 15 pack looks a hell of a lot like other company's 18 packs. The lazy, and less bright may look at the slightly cheaper price, and think they're getting an awesome deal, because they think they're getting 18 beers. As always, caveat emptor, but to knowingly try to rip off your user base though deception, and visual manipulation is highly distasteful.
