BTX officially dead

Given Dell's and HP's production numbers, though, BTX now has a life of its own. Just based on how many those two sell all by themselves.

Your thread title is misleading. Intel didn't specifically state that BTX was dead. Intel just mentioned that THEY would no longer be involved with the BTX platform. Intel did state they would continue to support any previous released product based on the BTX spec.

Now of course, Intel, indirectly will result in the death of the BTX platform, since they are the major player on this platform.

Dropping support is basically Intel saying "we give up", and without them pushing it it should fade rather quickly seeing as how just about everyone aside from Intel thought it was a waste.

I think there are aspects of BTX that will continue in all cases. Creating thermal zones is an effective way to isolate and cool problem components without affecting the rest of the system.

I don't get why the motherboard layout is all that important to it. Seems like dividers in the case itself are more effective at channeling air than the placement of the RAM/PWM/CPU in the same "zone" of the mobo. Since when does cooling RAM get you more than 4mhz anyway?

Good idea, but largely useless spec on the motherboard side imo.

Like what I been saying... fix the original problem and you wouldn't need a new case..

Fix the heat problem of the intel cpu and you dont need to move cpu to the front.

Intel did that with c2d and no longer need this btx crap...
