I have an old Prolink PixelView PlayTV PRO (XP edition) BT878P+ TV tuner card that I am trying to get working with Windows Vista Ultimate (32-bit).

I have tried the Vista drivers from the prolink website and they don't work at all with any TV tuner software, however I have discovered that the original WDM drivers for windows XP that came on the CD (they date back to early 2002) work quite well with the supplied TV software and I can watch TV fine using it.

I would like to get the TV tuner working with windows media center but everytime it tries to detect the tuner, it says that it can't find the TV tuner hardware.

Does anybody know how to get TV tuners based on the old BT878P+ (brooktree fusion) chipset working correctly with windows vista?

Its not a vista issue its a MC issue.
MC does not support a tv tuner card that does not have hardware compression.
You need a card that does mpeg2 in hardware.

If you search around look for intervideo mpeg2 software.
Thats the only software encoder I know of that can trick MC into thinking the card is a hardware based card. Its not going to be perfect though since the pc will be doing the encoding instead of the card.

Thanks for the info, I managed to get it working, but the results were pretty crap (it took ages to tune anything in and the output was fuzzy) compared to the Pixelview software that came with the card.
