BT or Azureus Slow Now?

I'm using the latest azureus and sun java and it seems everything i download doesn't go faster than 20kB now. I'm on rogers 3mb service. I used to be able to max my speed at 350kB with a few torrents running and upping at 25kB but now I can barely get 20kB from a few torrents and upping at like 3kB even though my cap is 25kB. What is up with this? All my torrents show green and ports are forwarded. I'm using port 9049 too. Has something gone down in the BT scene?

It all depends what you download. Some torrents are slow because the seeds and other peers aren't on fast upload pipes.

Many of the torrents posted on filerush.com are fast. Try some there and see if it runs fast or not.

Speed is dependent on those sharing, not the client itself. I just downloaded a file yesterday from BT and was getting 300KB/s for all 3 gigs of it. Right now i'm downloading two things, and one is 150KB/s and the other is 80KB/s.

It might depend on the tracker too... if you have bad ratios, you might have to wait a lot longer to be put on people's queues. Or people could be pissed at your leeching and blacklist you all together.

there is a utility out that claims to raise some connection limit in the tcpip.sys that comes with XP SP2. i don't know if it works or not. i haven't seen higher than about 50KB/s after installing sp2, even after the fix.

i'm at georgia tech's lan connection and i hardly ever get above 100 kb/sec using bittorent (azureus)

i think you just got lucky with the 300 kb/sec ones :)

Ditto. 300kb is pretty good. The most I ever got from BT is 120kb.

I get 300kb/s all the time. You just need to find good trackers (ie not Suprnova crap) with good seeders.
