BSOD's in Win2k

My roommate has a bit of a problem with his computer. He just put in a new Thunderbird (after cracking his old one) and now windows 2k won't boot at all. It won't go into safe mode, normally, or debug. The most common blue screen (which occurs either right before or during the splash screen) says something about a mouclass.sys file, although many more occur. In addition repairing the Win2k installation isn't an option since it crashes just the same. All the hardware has been taken out except for the bare essentials.

MSI K7T Limited
T-Bird 1 Ghz
512 Ram (Crucial and Generic, both work)
GeForce2 GTS
Creative Labs Live Value
NIC
Creative 12x10x32 burner
Pioneer 16x DVD
40 Gig IBM harddrive

i would take all hardware out of the computer except the harddrive, cdrom drive, video card and one piece of RAM. i would also try a different mouse and keyboard. clear your CMOS and load BIOS defaults. then try a win2k repair and see what happens. if it still does not work then move your data off that drive and flash your BIOS to version 3.1 and try a clean install (format NTFS). if you are still getting errors please write down what those BSODs say because they can tell you what is wrong with your setup. post your BSOD errors so we can get a better idea of what is going on with your system....

have fun
