Hi,
Whenever I run a 3D game in Windows, my system crashes with a "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" relating to nv4_disp.dll (video driver). I had the exact same problem under WinXP x86, so I installed WinXP x64 since my computer has a 64-bit processor. I have used ForceWare and NGO drivers with no luck. I have tried Half-Life 2, Warhammer: Dawn of War (demo), Counter-Strike and Quake 3 (demo) and have the same problem with these programs. It seems like only programs using 3D graphics cause the system to BSOD. I have DirectX 9.0c installed along with all other drivers for the system.
The system can run Quake 4 and Half-Life 2 on Linux fine, so I know this is not a hardware problem. The same problem occurs on Windows XP's 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
I am running Windows XP x64 on a Pentium D, Abit AW8 Max motherboard and a Foxconn nvidia 7900 GS graphics card. I have tried using a couple different drivers with the same problems every time.
I contacted some people through QUNU (online tech support) and they were as stumped as I am. They recommended I post my problem here to see if anyone else could give me some insight into this problem.
Thanks for any help, I am baffled at this point.
