BSOD when I install Win2K - what's going on here? - FIXED!

Yesterday I began to rebuild my system, a Win98 and 2K dual boot. I was able to install and set up Win98 with no problems what so ever. When I went to install Win2K everything went fine until I restarted my computer and entered the Win2K setup. It was able to analyze my hardware and install the system files but after that I got a BSOD with the following error message:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7463848, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Does this mean that my hard drive (45GB 75GXP) is screwed? I ran the IBM drive fittness test and it didn't find any problems. I checked for viruses and found none. I also ran a scandisk and defrag on every partition - no problems. I tried reseating my memory, didn't help. I tried replacing it with two 64MB sticks of PC100 RAM and that didn't help either. I reset everything back to its default clock speed. My hard drive partitions are:

C: (Win98) 2GB
D: (Win2K) 3GB
E: (Everything else) 40GB

Up until now my system has been virtually error free, I haven't had a single crash in months. I've tried re-installing Win2K several times but I get the same error every time. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I have gotten that error when I installed different motherboards on a win2k machine. I would just try to reinstall win2k.

I think it sounds like it didn't detect something correctly.

I've already tried re-installing it five times. I get the same error every time. This makes me think it's something else.

PUll every device that is non critical, and try that. If still blue screens, replace parts one by one, like cpu, video, mobo. etc.

also use win98 and an antivirus utility to check for viruses... I had that problem one time... and my friends computer had a boot sector virus...once I got rid of it, I was able to install 2000 with no problems... just make sure that if it does have a boot sector virus...check all the floppies you have or it might get infected again

then again, I might be completely wrong d=

How are you trying to install Win2K, from a Win98 boot disk, from inside Win98, or booting from the Win2K CD?

Never mind, fixed it. I forgot that Win2K can't recognize the Promise ATA100 controller on my A7V during set up. I put the HD on the 686A controller and it worked fine. After it was installed I put it back on the ATA100 one. Thanks guys. :)
