I built a new system this past weekend with the following components:
- AMD Athlon XP 1700+ processor
- ASUS A7V266 motherboard
- 256MB Kingston DDR memory
- Antec SX1030B case w/300W SmartPower power supply
- Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM ATA/133 hard drive* (master drive on primary IDE channel)
- Western Digital 60GB 5400RPM ATA/100 drive (slave drive on primary IDE channel)
- TDK VeloCD 24/10/40 CD-RW drive (master drive on secondary IDE channel)
- Creative Ovation 16X DVD-ROM drive (slave drive on secondary IDE channel)
- Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+ sound card
- Linksys 10/100 NIC
- ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV graphics card
- Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro
- Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse
- Windows XP Professional (legit; not yet activated)

*The ATA/133 controller card that comes with the drive was removed temporarily to gauge its effects on startup times. Startup time decreased by about 1 minute, 30 seconds with card removed. All drives are still useable with card removed. Problem stated below occurs with and without card installed.

Anyway, for the first few times I would restart the computer whilst installing drivers, bundled software, etc., Stand By was not an available option when going to Start -> Turn Off Computer. However, after about 5 reboots, it showed up as an available option.

With all system drivers installed (all of which I believe are XP-compatible), when trying to go into Stand By mode, system would restart. So, I rebooted and disabled Automatically restart in the system failure settings. Now, when going into Stand By mode, I get the BSOD with the following error: MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS. (Let me know if any other information from BSOD screen is necessary.)

What's going on? This has frustrated me so much that I reformatted and installed everything over again, in case I did something wrong somewhere, but the problem still occurs.

I have not changed any BIOS settings (including Power settings) except to disable the onboard audio controller.

Please help! :(

minendo,

No Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 here, but I do have Norton SystemWorks 2002 installed, in regards to the link you posted.

I'll try uninstalling it and try again.

P.S. I just installed Counter Strike and it's running slow as hell. I have half a mind to format again and just load WinMe. Damn it...
