BSOD running CS in open gl

Whenever i try to play CS 1.6 in opengl, i can play for about 2 minutes, then the comp freezes, and the blue screen of death comes up. Now i never had the problem with this card in my other computer

Right now the specs are
Windows XP Pro
Athlon XP 2000+
asus a7v8x-x
Radeon 9600SE
512mb ram

the bsod never happened with this card in any other system, specifically with my 8rda+

all drivers are updated to newest ones. I dont really have any idea why this happens.
Its not even a demanding game, which is why its wierd.
I can play in software mode but software mode is crap. And CS is the only thing that i play on this computer. I have also tried earlier drivers, but nothing seems to work.

Any suggestions/ideas?

thanks

Lower AGP speed to 4x and turn off fast writes? I think that fixed it for me when I had an A7V8X. I doubt those will bottleneck a 9600SE.

I check BIOS, AGP speed is set to 8x, and i cant change it, the option is greyed out.
Fast writes was alredy disabled
any other ideas?

Type in smartgart in start menu->run to change AGP speed via ATI's kernel drivers. You might need to reboot afterwards.

windows cannot find smartgart :/

oops, i got rid of catalyst control center a while back cuz i hated the new properties control thing

the BSOD still happened with the catalyst control center installed

Hmm. You should be able to control it with the old control panel or RadLinker. Maybe RivaTuner too. Also there's ATI Tray Tools.
