BSOD "Process has locked pages"

I recently purchased a compaq SR1012NX and added a second stick of PC2700 DDR (Centon). I got a few BSOD's so I took it out the 2nd stick of ram and ran Prime95. Ran for just over 24 hours until I stopped it. I even did a few other things on the computer such as downloaded a few drivers, hit a few websites and burned some filesto a CD while prime95 was running. Definitely a lot of stress, but it was fine.

So I put the other stick of Ram in the computer and started Prime95 at 1:30 this afternoon. When I got home I needed to download some other drivers so I went ahead and did that while checking e-mail and completing an online purchase for my fiance. I got the above BSOD. Would this mean that this memory is still the weak link and should I take it out and buy some better quality, or did I just put too much of a load on the ocmputer. I figure I'll start Prime95 again when I go to bed and let it run all night until I get home from work tomorrow night and see what happens.

My other computer has been a nightmare so I really want this one to be super stable so I always have a good computer to work on and research the problems and fixes for my other one.

Oh yeah. Ran memtest for 24 hours with no issues with both sticks of memory installed.

When you say "put the other stick of RAM in the puter", you mean you replaced the other one or you added the second in addition to the first?

my guess would be added since he said he 'added a second stick'.

did you run memtest with both sticks in there and it came out fine?

Ran Prime 95 again starting last night. The problem is that I am trying to fix my other computer so I just can't leave this one alone. This time Prime95 found an error at 16 hours and 37 minutes. Of course I was doing other things on the computer so that may have contributed it. It did note hardware failure detected. I suspect RAM, but if it will run this long do I need to worry about buying better RAM?

With the 2nd stick, BSOD + errors in memtest. Without, no BSOD, no errors.

I'd return the RAM and get another type.

dclive,

memtest proved fine in either configuration. P95 ran over 24 hours with a single stick of the infineone chips that come with the computer. Added the second stick which is Centon (chips by VT) and P95 ran for 16 hours. I got another error tonigh (BSOD in title) so I pulled the second stick and will use it somewhere else or sell it. I have already returned the ram once and cannot return again because I sent in the rebate from. Stupid me. I should have waited.

I did order a stick of Crucial ram to put in this computer. I paid a little more than I had to, but I want to get it completed and rock stable. Once I am comfortable that it is stable in it's current configuration I will decide if I want to put in the extra Elsa Gladiac I have sitting in the closet.

Matched RAM is usually always best for compatibility, even though different RAM with the same specs should theoretically work.

One thing to try, if you didn't already, would be to increase the voltage for the RAM (vdimm in BIOS setup), from 2.5v to 2.6 or maybe 2.7v, and set the memory timings manually instead of "AUTO".

However, if you can return it, I would, memtest86 errors aren't a good thing.

It only costbe $20.00 after rebate so if I lose out so be it. It might find a home in another system at some point or in the trash. Who knows. I might take it back to comp usa and ask for the 19.99 back which is what I would be out. We'll see.
