Okay so one of my friends recently tried out the Win7 RC that was released by MS a sometime ago. Ever since he started using Win7 he started getting random BSODs. He tried everything possible to stop the bsods but couldn't find a solution so he went back to good old XP.

Now here is the problem. PRIOR to installing in Win7 he has had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS with his PC. WinXP was super stable. He never had a problem at all with his computer. When he installed XP back, the same blue screens that happened in Win7 is now happening in XP. Why is this occurring? Can anyone shed some light on this subject?

He is currently running an X2 5800, 2GB of ram with a 7600GT on a M2V-MX board with a 430w psu

Currently right now my friend is using safe mode right now. Seems to be a lot more stable in this mode. Maybe this can shed some light on the subject. Also, he has reinstalled XP numerous times to rule out a bad install. That doesn't seem to be the case. Even on a fresh clean install xp constantly bsods on him. Again, prior to using Win7 RC his comp was functioning just fine. It was only after he installed 7RC that was when BSODs started happening regardless if he goes back to XP or not. So far the things he has tried are:

-Memtest (3 loops), no errors reported.
-He used chkdsk in command prompt and it reported 0 bad sectors.
-His cpu temp is in the 60C range but it has always been like that before Win7 RC was installed.
-Reinstalled XP numerous times to rule out a bad install. BSODs still happen.
-Switched RAM sticks.

Anyone else can give any suggestions?

EDIT: is there anyway of uploading mini dump files to the site?

Since OSs don't make BIOS changes and a format completely does away with any previous OS I doubt that Win 7 is the issue.

With any reinstall, it's good to:
Reset, or even better, reflash the BIOS and redo all your settings.
Reformat.

A place to start would be Googling the BSOD codes.

actually prior to posting here i posted this issue at another tech forum. Unfortunately he still has the problem so i decided to post this problem up in this forum, hoping that someone here could shed some light. He's been on safe mode ever since. If anyone has any ideas please post here! Any help is appreciated!
