Hey Ive been going mad for the past couple of days with all the BSODs Ive been getting on new install of vista x86 home premium, thing is when I built the pc back in nov I was running the same OS perfectly until I was getting bios errors with something RAM wise I was using 2gb of mushkin pc2-8500 and I got an error where I could run any speed past 800mhz anyways...I ordered new ram, patriot 4gb 2x2 4-4-4-12 kit and installed xp 64 bit to use all 4gb but was getting BSOD when playing cod4 and was getting mad with the crappy drivers for xp 64 bit so I reinstalled vista x86 hoping everything would run fine but now Ive had 7 BSOD since the install a couple says ago...my hardware all has low temps so I'm not sure whats causing the random BSOD. Could it be my power supply wont handle the new hdd and 2gb module?I have all the .dmp files if someone could help me out that would be great if you need any specific info or files let me know.

thanks

Run Memtest86+ lets us know if it reports any errors.

It's possible it could be your PSU,brands like Corsair,Seasonic,OCZ,Enermax etc are good quality PSUs.

I havnt yet ran Memtest86+ trying to get it to boot from my usb mem card, but I ran windows memory diagnostics test and it said there is a memory problem and said to contact manufacture but it didn't give anything specific...Id imagine Memtest86+ will give me specific errors?

I went to run memtest86+ when it originally started testing everything was fine but it was testing only 3200mb, when I realized that I switched it to test all 4000mb or ram...immediately I got 10 errors and memtest froze I rebooted and ran it again with 4gb same thing right away give me 10 errors then froze. Maybe I'm not doing something right or thats just how it works anyways here are the errors.

000fee00000 ffffffff fee00004
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00008
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00010
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00020
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00040
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00080
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00100
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00200
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00400
000fee00000 ffffffff fee00800

Not sure if that makes sense or if I'm grabbing the wrong info, hopefully that can help.

thanks

Try and replace the PSU if possible, memory errors could be ram(doutbful since you had it with both different sticks) or CPU,motherboad,PSU.

I had a motherboard/cpu go faulty and caused ram errors/crashing just like you had(ram was fine even when Memtest86+ reported it faulty,I sent the ram to Crucial and they confirmed it was not faulty on their test bench),unfortunately its trial and error ie replacing parts one at a time until you find the cause.

Getting back to your ram you could check ram voltage settings in BIOS and ease off on the ram timings(make it slightly slower) see if that has any effect on stability.

If they both pass on their own but fail memtest86+ together I would say its PSU problem with voltage .

Obviously if its just one bad stick ,you'll know when you test each single stick.

wow this is really fustrating, first I test one stick in the first dimm slot no errors i stopped it at test 7 then I went to run the second stick taking the first one out of the first dimm slot and placing the second stick in it wouldnt boot or let me choose what to boot"overclock failed press F1 to run setup, press F2 to load default settings" so I took it out and ran it in the third dimm slot which would be the second channel and sure enough it booted to memtest then i ran test 5 and got 4 errors, i ran memtest again and did tests up to 6 and got 256 errors, Im very fustrated and not sure if its a ram problem or the motherboard. I have another set of ram (2gb mushkin pc2-8500) that Im going to try running mem test, if I get errors do you think it could be something to do with the motherboard? Im very confused and just want the pc to run stable lol.

As I said trial and error, you could try your ram in a friends PC providing its compatible.
Motherboard is a possibility just like a few other things.

I think we can cut out the PSU since the pc ran fine for two months with ram that ran at the same voltage. I think my mother board just isnt like what ever ram I put in it...apparently this board is ram picky. In game crashes are usually becuase of bad video drivers correct me if im wrong. But random system crashes just making me mad. I want to order a new Gigabyte board but dont want to get the mobo just to find out that its my ram that is at fault.

Ok so one of the Mushkin sticks gets several errors to when running mem test...I think Im going to bring my pc to my buddys house and try his ram in my pc and run memtest otherwise Im lost, I think if I dont get errors with their ram and it run prime95 good then Im going to end up calling both my ram companies and get them to send new ram...also Ill try my ram in my buddys pc. Maybe I should try the 805 beta bios...? If you have any other ideas please let me know.

thanks

well If I'm still crashing after I go to my buddys and try his ram in my pc would you consider it to be the motherboard? or video drivers(even tho it will crash random outside of games).

You are getting errors before Vista even boots up so this rules out Vista and drivers, definitetly a hardware issue.

Maybe I should try raising my northbridge voltage to 1.4 as it currently runs at 1.25, also I installed chipset framework which seems to have added some stability. I reset the bios then put in my timings and voltage for ram, booted up have yet to recieve a BSOD Ive been running crysis for 2 hours in windowed mode without BSOD. Although cant run Prime95 without failing some cores...can prime be ran on stock cpu heatsink and settings? Going to try beta drivers also.

Overclocked video cards even factory overclocked cards can cause game lockups etc,try underclocking your video card by 10mhz or so this can improve stability.

Even if its running at a decent temp...well since I turned up the fan speed, very friggin noisy. I guess I can give it a try, I have school now tho, so Ill try when I get home...then I have work (BOOOO)
