BSOD issues

I should pitch a tent here lately 🙂

Well, the virus problems are gone, the booting problems are gone, all is almost fine now. Only problem remaining are random BSODs. They happen 90% of the time when the HD is being accessed, like loading a level in a game, or something similar. It also happens when loading a CD in my DVD-RW drive. My HD is SATA, DVDRW is on IDE1 SLAVE with my IBM drive as MASTER.

I run Windows XP sp1. I have no viruses, no spyware. It happens wether or not my cpu is OCed or not. Memory is running default speed.

This has happened even after a format. I am wondering if the cause of the problem is not the nvidia SW driver? I have the latest version from nvidia's site. I'm also using the latest official nvidia video drivers. My vid card is not OCed.

Maybe I should update to the new beta bios for my board?

I don't usually have time to see the BSOD error msg... I think I saw something to the effect of "RQL driver" or something? maybe IRQ? not sure 🙁 I'll try to see more next time. The error msg varies.

Specs in sig. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Note: right now I am running 1x512mb samsung pc2700 ram.

I would say that you more than likely have faulty hardware or drivers.
Firstly, did you run the xp compatibility wizard before you installed?

One thing you might want to try, though it may not help, is to set the pagefile to 0, reboot, then reset it to a static amount.
If you are using beta version of drivers, then chances are you should uninstall them, see if that clears it up.
Also, see what happens in safe mode.

nope didn't run it. I didn't think i'd have any problems with common hardware.

i'll try the pagefile adjustment. I was running a real high pagefile off my 300gb drive. I set it to System Managed on both C: and that hd.

aside from that, I got all official drivers..
