STOP error 124 is triggered when the CPU detects a serious electronic malfunction, and has lost track of what it was doing. The only way to get this error is if it is triggered by the electrical fault detection circuits in the CPU or motherboard.

When the CPU detects this type of malfunction, it sends a message to the OS telling it that the system is unstable, due to an electrical fault. When Windows receives this 'serious electronic malfunction' signal from the CPU, it will shutdown with a STOP 124.

As this error is always due to a malfunctioning electronic component, it is very difficult to trace. You are probably best off asking in the 'computer help' forum as people there will be able to help you trace the malfunctioning part.

Are you overclocking? STOP 124 *could* be a symptom if your CPU is not receiving enough power (i.e., Vcore is undervolting, or for whatever reason is dipping).

You can try enabling load line calibration on your BIOS, and see if it corrects this issue.
