BSOD error, does hdd space affect this?

last 2 day's ive been getting BSOD on my win2k box. it's a cel 600 (not OC'd), 256ram, 2 hdd (main partition is 2gb with about 500mb free, second just holds program files), asus cusl2-c(?) mb.

anyhow, i've had this system for over a month with no problems. it's just these last 2days i've gotten the bsod error... physical memory dump and the irq one. The only thing i'm doing during this crash is downloading from irc and uploading from my ftp server. i'm not exactly sure what operation is occuring right before it crashes because i'm usually not watching the comp.

also, will 500mb free on the main partition affect my performance? i partitioned 2gb for my OS and felt that was enough. i have all my program files on my secondary partition... but that is formatted with fat32... is it necessary for me to format again with ntfs (primary partition is ntfs) and if i do this, can i simply copy the program files onto another hdd and recopy after i reformat?

thoughts? help? thanks.
