Ughhh...I have no clue what to do-In an earlier thread sickbeast reccomended the usual check ram and such, but I found out that my BSODs are due to an error in "smwdm.sys" I know this is a soundmax file, but I updated, cleaned, einstalled the drivers. Also over the weekend I had someone install a vga silencer for my 9800 pro, but he also connected all the leads that I didn't know how to. If anyone has similar problems or can help please post! Desperation Sucks !!!!
I have an Asus K8V SE Mobo with built in 5.1 sound and a A64 2800+
Thanks,
Kishan

When did this problem start happening? Did you install any new hardware/software around the time this started popping up? Can you try a system restore?

Thank you sonic for giving me a response-never thought of system restore....Reinstalled a speech driver-which is definitely related to the sound card. I had someone install a vga silencer, but I have no idea how that could affect my onboard sound. Lets pray I don't have to post another message regarding a bsod...

Does it seem to be stable now?

Off topic: I would replace that PSU if I were you. You're trusting your hardware to a ticking timebomb. You can grab a cheap $40ish Antec/Fortron 350watt PSU at Newegg. It would well outperform the one you have now.

Generic PSU 😛 Don't do that to yourself, regardless of whether it's the cause of this problem or not. Quality, quality, quality.

Also, follow SickBeast's advice and run Memtest86. Don't neglect experienced advice just because you don't see where we're going with our troubleshooting. 🙂

both of you make sense. I work at best buy and we sell Antec PSU, and I get a nice discount how much wattage should I go for?
Here's my specs-
ASUS K8V SE
A64 2800
9800 Pro->XT with Vga Silencer
120GB SATA Seagate
2 Optical Drives
4 80mm fans

This is a generic 400w-how long should I wait it out considering I can buy it at anytime. I got it 2 weeks ago.

BAD_POOL_CALLER? Uhhh....Ok.

You should invest in a new PSU ASAP. I'd go for atleast 350watts, but get as high as your budget can afford. Never hurts to future proof your PSU.

Don't ignore the advice given above. Run memtest86 and prime95 to check for memory/CPU errors.

Also, download MBM5 and give us the temps and voltages.

ok read the error completely-it said that I had a problem with video drivers-used driver cleaner and replaced drivers...hopefully this will work and I don't want to jinx myself!

bump now got a smwdm.sys error-running on one 512 stick, and it seems faster for some reason-anyone ever experirence something along these lines-I think that one stick was bad-the stick I took out was warmer than the one thats in there now...

.Reinstalled a speech driver-which is definitely related to the sound card

Go to add/remove programs and remove anything related to sound, sound card drivers, speak drivers, etc.

Then test your system.

Do whatever you were doing when the other errors occured.
Try to reproduce the problem so you can narrow it down.

Hello. This resolve your problem. I have old computer with SoundMAX audio.. and when i use media player or xbmc the bsod is appear on the screen with problem of smwdm.sys file. I make a installation drivers pack with smwdm.sys from other drivers and after install all work correct!!! Just thru the install you must click on IGNORE button when the error dialog show up because the the new smwdm.sys is not the same as in .cab file. When you clock IGNORE the new file will install and everything should work great... just download this file... if you dont believe me just scan this .rar at www.virustotal.com
