BSOD at Windows startup

Hey guys, so I recently just installed an i7 2600k and a Asus P8Z68-V Pro GEN3 into my rig in my sig, replacing the old Phenom II x4 and 790FXT-UD5P. I've been getting weird BSODs at startup now. I can NOT get into Windows no matter what I try. The Windows is starting animation plays, and then it goes to a black screen. Before I can see my cursor, it BSODs. I heard that you have to reinstall windows when you get a new cpu and motherboard so is that the problem?

But the thing is, I moved from a Core 2 Duo E6600 and IP35e combo to the rig in my sig (Phenom II x4 and 790FXT-UD5P) and I didn't have to reinstall Windows. They're two completely different architectures.

Can you boot to safe mode? If so, you might be able to uninstall all your motherboard and processor drivers, and then the new drivers for your new rig should install.

I wouldn't call a BSOD on startup after changing out the mobo "weird". Most likely both of your old computers used Legacy IDE mode for the SATA ports whereas the new computer uses AHCI. Try changing the mode of the SATA controller that your primary HDD is plugged into.
