Hey Everyone,

I keep getting random crashes on my computer and i am not entirely sure how to figure out what is causing them. Here are my specs

intel E8400
Asus motherboard p35( i forget the exact model im at work)
EVGA 8800 GTS 512
4 gig Gskill ram ddr2 1066 (i think thats the speed)
Seasonic 550w psu
Windows 7 (but problems have been happening even when i had XP)

A variety of different problems have been happening with my computer. The first of which is i keep getting BSOD when i am browsing IE. I will be looking at a website or using Itunes and i get a BSOD all of a sudden. No reason.

The second problem i keep having is i will be playing a game and the game will freeze and the sound will stutter. Most of the time the freeze will last 5 seconds and go back to normal. Sometimes it will unfreeze, but my FPS goes down to a crawl. And rarely when the game unfreezes it will come back very pixelatted and i will have to restart my comptuer for it to go back to normal.

Another thing that happens is lastnight i was listening to music and browsing the itnernet and all of a sudden my screen went place and the computer froze. I had to restart to get it back to normal.

My video card is not Overheating, I already checked this. The PSU should be able to handle my system without a problem. Not sure what else to check here to see what the problem is. I am leaning towards the video card.

Test your RAM using MemTest.

Test them one at a time and then together.

Your video card is not gonna crash you like that on your Dtop.

Listen to the guru's here we all feel it might be your RAM gone bad.

A quick memtest will probably prove it.

Let us know where you at and what happened.. gl

Decided to run Windows memory diag and low an behold WMD detected errors in my memory after 20 min. Still gonna run MEMTest tonight when i get home to do further testing. Where is a legit place to download MEMtest 4.0 at?

Also i jsut realized its ddr2 800 ram and its 4 1 gig sticks. Any way to tell which module is the bad one?

Just ran Memtest86+ for 10 hours and it didnt have one error, but it recieved an error in WMD yesterday. This is getting kind of annoying. Gonna reseat the ram and test it again to see if it works. Was going to look up the voltage settings up on the rams website and manually set them, but i have no clue how to manually set the voltage, i cant seem to find it in my bios. Didnt look to hard yet though.

The BSODs are becomign more and more frequent and i still havent recieved an error in Memtest. It has doen about 20 passes and has yet to record an error. Although WMD does record errors. I am not sure where to go from here. I would hate to spend money on new ram and it not be the problem.

My cpu temps are below 40c at load and my gpu temps are at 40c at idle. have checked the bsod dump files, but i have not a lcue how to read them.
